Frequently asked questions
Anything you want your loved ones to read: a letter, wishes, practical instructions, memories. There's no length limit, and you can format it with headings, lists, bold and links. Videos, recordings, documents and photos can be attached on paid plans.
Yes. It works the same everywhere. The message is delivered by email to whoever you choose, wherever they live.
It is a private message delivered to the people you choose. If you also need a legally binding will, make one according to the law where you live; you can mention where it is kept in your message.
The free plan includes 1 will with a written message. Paid plans include more wills (or unlimited), plus videos and files. See Pricing.
For 6 months (the length shown on the Pricing page). After that your wills, files and delivery settings are permanently deleted, even a will marked final that hasn't been sent yet. We email you 30, 7 and 1 days before. To keep them, choose a plan at any time. If you don't, you can use the free plan again one month after the deletion. When a paid plan ends, the same free-plan rules apply from that day.
Only after you mark it final and then we don't hear from you for the period you chose (2, 4, 6 or 8 weeks). Every sign-in, and every press of I'm OK in a reminder email, restarts the countdown. A draft is never sent.
We email you before sending (7, 3 and 1 days before by default; you choose the days). If you can, sign in to stop it. Choose a period long enough to cover a long illness or travel. If it is sent while you're alive, sign in and choose Stop access: all links stop working at once.
When you mark your will final, tick "Let new recipients know now". We send each person a short note saying you've chosen them (without your message) and asking them to add our address to their contacts. It also helps to tell them yourself that one day they may get an email from us. If they haven't opened their link, we remind them a few times, and anyone can use "Find a message left for me" on our site to have the link sent again.
An email with a private link. It opens your message and every file you attached: videos play in the browser, recordings can be listened to, and documents and photos can be downloaded. To open it they enter a 6-digit code we email to them, so a forwarded link isn't enough. The link works for 30 days, and they can download the message and every file in one go to keep.
Yes. Choose Edit (move to draft), make your changes and mark it final again. While it's a draft it won't be sent. The History page shows every change you made.
No. Receiving the email doesn't make someone an heir or transfer any property.
Nobody, until it is sent. Your message and files are encrypted when stored, and our staff can't open them: they only see that a will exists, its status, dates and counts, so they can help with delivery. In exceptional cases (for example if you ask us in writing, or the law requires it) a senior administrator can be given access to one specific will; every such view is recorded in the audit log. The service is not end-to-end encrypted, because your will must be deliverable after you've gone.
Yes. Go to Data and privacy to export your data or request deletion. Some security and audit records are kept for a limited period, as described in the Privacy Notice.
